Frequently Asked Questions.
Do you have any sample images that I can try?
Yes we do. You can find them here
I want to rotate and crop my panorama!!!
The future version of AIPR Lite 1 will allow you to do this. For the time being you can crop the images using Windows or Mac standard preview tools. To rotate the images you may want to use an image viewer different from the preview tool. Check the comparisons of the most popular image viewers in Wikipedia to find something that suites your needs.
The panorama looks distorted!
Just try a different transformation or another type of projection. The defaults are set to rotational homography and spherical projection: these settings are good if you took the pictures standing almost in the same place and you panned and tilted your camera. Browse inside the integrated help system to discover why other transformations may better suit your pictures. Also, you may want to try different projections, e.g. cylindrical if the camera does not tilt or planar if the viewing angle is not excessively wide.
Can I just get a quick preview of the panorama?
Yes, just disable the seamless blending and (consequently) the color equalization. The rendering process will be much faster. Once you are happy with your settings about the transformation and projection just enable both the seamless blending and the color equalization to obtain your beautiful panorama.
How do I uninstall AIPR Lite?
To completely remove AIPR Lite from your computer, just follow the following simple steps. Windows: go to Control Panel -> Program and Features. Select AIPR Lite from the list, right click on it and select Uninstall. Mac OS: the uninstallation procedure is composed of three steps. First, remove the application AIPR Lite.app from the directory /Applications. Secondly remove the file AIPRLite Create Panorama.action from the directory /System/Library/Automator/. Finally remove the file Create Panorama.workflow from the directory /System/Library/Services/. You may have to elevate your system privileges to perform the last two steps.
I want to see my panorama in your gallery page!
We will be happy to publish wonderful panoramas created with AIPR Lite on our web page. Contact us and we will get back to you as soon as possible! In the mean time we thank Luca Bertelli, Dmitry Fedorov, Giovanni Pau and Francesco Zuliani for their contributions.
How do I right-click on my Mac? My mouse/trackpad has only one button!!!
In Mac's world the right-click is also known as secondary click. If you have a one button mouse then press control and then click the button on your mouse (or your laptop trackpad) simultaneously. If you are using the laptop trackpad then place two of your fingers on the trackpad and press the button.
I cannot find the contextual menu extension "Create Panorama".
There are very few circumstances under which the installer is not able to initialize correctly the service (on the Mac) or the shell extension (on Windows). The problem can usually be solved by logging out and logging in again. Also, make sure you are not installing the 32 bit version of the software on a 64 bit architecture and viceversa.
Say that I have five images. Is it ok to create a panorama with four images and then registering such panorama with the fifth image?
Not really. The sophisticated technology of AIPR Lite performs a global photometric and geometric optimization over all the images that will compose the final panorama at the same time. By feeding a panorama as input image, AIPR Lite is forced to deal with some "frozen parameters" and the results are likely to be way sub-optimal.
Once the panorama construction is over Windows Photo Gallery says that the file is corrupted or damaged. Why?
If Windows Photo Gallery outputs the error message "Photo Gallery can't open this picture or video. The file appears to be damaged or corrupted", it is likely that the panorama size is too big to be managed by Windows Photo Gallery. You may want to utilize some other software to preview your panoramas, such as those listed in Wikipedia.
