Dr B. S. Manjunath (Co-founder and CEO)
Dr. Manjunath co-founded Mayachitra (with Dr. Chandrasekaran). He has over 15 years of experience in developing robust image informatics solutions, including image registration, content based search and retrieval, image and video databases, steganography, and image segmentation. He is also a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he directs research in the Vision Research Laboratory and the Center for Bio-Image Informatics. He has authored/co-authored over 150 peer reviewed papers in leading journals and conferences, and is a co-inventor on 15 US patents. He was involved with the MPEG-7 standardization and the lead editor of the book on MPEG-7 published by Wiley International. |
Dr. Shivkumar Chandrasekaran (Co-founder and CTO)
Dr. Chandrasekaran is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Mayachitra Inc. and a Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is responsible for overall software systems design and implementation. At Mayachitra his research has been primarily concentrated on developing a scalable multimedia database that can support content based search on terabytes of data, primarily for aerial and satellite imagery and bio-medical images. |
Dr.Ashok Pahwa (Principal Scientist)
Dr. Pahwa joined Mayachitra in January 2005. He is the founder of DV Studio, Inc., which introduced successful products for CD-Recording (CDR) and MPEG encoding. His entrepreneurial experience adds business expertise to Mayachitra. DV Studio’s CD-Gen is a pre-mastering product introduced in 1992. It was bundled with Philips, Yamaha and Sony CD-Recorders at a time when the cost of entry into CDR was an order of magnitude greater than it is today. In establishing a level of usability and functionality for CDR, it helped catapult CDR into the mainstream. Dr. Pahwa also successfully designed and sold various MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 hardware encoders used in the DVD creation market. |
Dr. Kenneth Sullivan (Research Staff Member)
Dr. Sullivan completed Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Vision Research Laboratory, UCSB. Dr. Sullivan has a strong academic background, as well as practical experience in commercial enterprises. His background expertise is in video and image processing, computer vision, pattern recognition, and data hiding. |
Dr. Kaushal Solanki (Research Staff Member)
Dr Solanki recently completed Ph.D. (2005) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UCSB. His expertise and experience lies in image processing and computer vision technologies such as image registration, automated image analysis, and data hiding. He has published several international journals and conferences papers, and has developed techniques that are now considered to be among the best in the literature. He is the recipient of the IBM Student Paper Award of the 2004 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP). He also received dissertation fellowship from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UCSB, in 2005. |
Dr. Marco Zuliani (Research Staff Member)
Dr. Zuliani obtained his Laurea degree in computer engineering from the University of Padova, Italy and his M.S and Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, SantaBarbara. His main interests are in the fields of image analysis and pattern recognition, with a special emphasis on image registration and mosaicking, feature detection and description, robust estimation, shape description, multi-view geometry and optimization. Part of his research has been published in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. He also received a dissertation fellowship from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UCSB, in 2005. |
